Greetings! I hope that this finds you well and enjoying life.
I’m sure that we share the same feelings about the situation in Ukraine… what a travesty! The greatest man- made disaster of our lifetimes is the way I try to give some context to it. So much deplorable offense and abuse by Putin and the Russian military. Notice I didn’t say the Russian people. Who can know what they want, but I suspect a whole lot of them don’t want this? They just want their Big Macs, Visa cards, Coke and Facebook back; things that free enterprise and democracy brought them. A lot of them are consumed with worrying about relatives living in Ukraine and sons invading Ukraine.
But there’s no doubt about or mistaking where the Ukrainians stand in this crisis. Their response has ignited a fire in the furnaces of democracy around the globe. Impressive just doesn’t quite describe it, do it justice… If this is the greatest man-made disaster of our generation the Ukrainians are making it into the greatest testament and tribute to democracy for our generation. For me it’s even bigger than Ronald Regan and the iron curtain coming down. This just builds on that. It’s put the bad guys on notice, it’s challenging them with the” truths” that support democracy that “all men are created equal and have the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness”. You better believe China and Iran are watching and disturbed by the might of the people of Ukraine AND the worlds response to them.
There’s an incredible of amount of bad going on – evil. But there’s an even greater amount of good and right and truth going on and it’s impressive. It’s important. I find myself wanting to help resist this oppression. Wanting to be a part of fighting back in some way. Do you feel that too? I can talk about it and I’ve done more than my share by now, or I can act with my resources which is really where I can make a difference. I can’t send planes or guns but I can send aid for the Ukrainians. If you haven’t found a way to help yet here a good one is. The well-established humanitarian aid group is called Send Relief. It’s a Christian based organization that has a good track record of doing just what their name says, Send Relief. It’s easy to give on line, I just did it in the middle of writing this. Google Send Relief to help out.
Don’t allow the evil that’s behind all of this to win by telling you that your gift, your support for the brave Ukrainians won’t matter. You better believe it will! The reality of it is as sons and daughters of democracy we’re in this with the Ukrainians.
